3) Research production

            Inspiration:

I really like how the editing balances between shifting from the band performing to the stories narrative, the setting is casual in the garage matching the setting at home. The fast paced editing works effectively with the song. I particularly like the manual zoom in on the close up shot when the lead is lip synching with the mic as it increases proxemics between audience and singers. the multiple angles while the band films is creative and effective.

I am in awe of the colourful blue disco lighting set in club. Again there is a good balance of the artist lip synching and the narrative. I also like Cher's style as she wears stylish, striking outfits, and the set is with bold vibrant colorurs and futuristic- like elements.

Taylor Swift portrays a character who embraces a darker side of herself, playing with the notion of a woman who is seen as a "crazy" lover. The video shows her engaging in wild, dramatic behavior, I like this as it breaks the sterotype of women being suberiant and passive in relationships, as it instead shows her having full power and control in the relationship.I also like the narrative showing an unstable relationship full of highs and lows- betrayal, jealousy, and intense passion, and her dramatic reactions to it.Transitions were slow to show the stability and power that was there, until one of them got angry and the pace quickens with the destruction of everything. Slow motion during dramatic parts (smashing his car)

I like the live performance element to the song and the rest of the band giving the video a quintessential rock feel. I also like the colourful lights and imagery in geometric like shapes. I also like Debbie Harry's facial expressions while performing and style especially with her platinum blonde hair casual flowing dress. My favoruite part is when the band starts dancing in the instramental freely with no choreography.

Codes and Conventions of pop rock music videos.

 Performance-Based Shots:

Band or Artist Performance: band or artist perform the song, either on stage or in a more casual setting (such as a garage in can we dance).

Many pop rock videos include shots that resemble live concert performances, with close-ups of band members playing instruments or singing (Blondie).

There is typically high energy and movement during performance shots to match the upbeat tempo.

Narrative and Storytelling:

Simple Narrative : a simple story or theme that ties in with the song's lyrics.

Themes of romance, relationships, or breakups are common in pop rock videos, as the genre frequently addresses personal and emotional themes.

The narrative often focuses on relatable characters, with the video portraying situations the audience can connect with.

Bright and Vibrant Visuals:

This can include neon lights, bold outfits, and lively sets.

Fashion and Style:

Casual or Stylish Outfits- This can include leather jackets and jeans for a more rock-inspired look, or more polished, fashionable outfits that align with the pop aesthetic.

Lighting and Camera Techniques:

Dynamic lighting-dramatic lighting can be used during an emotional moment, while brighter lighting creates a more fun and energetic atmosphere.

Quick Cuts and Close-ups: rapid editing, with quick cuts between different shots. Close-ups of the singer emphasise their connection to the song and help convey emotion.

  Dance:

Spontaneous Movement: In some cases, the video might show the artist or band members moving in a free, energetic way, matching the rhythm of the song.
